June Tribe Member of the Month!

Congratulations Maria Lee!

Picture
A Quote From a Coach:
“Maria has a determined look on her face every time she’s in the gym. Happy, upbeat, and fiercely determined.”
Maria Lee is a 56 year old amazing women! She is happily married, a proud mom of six grown children and two beautiful grandchildren with two more on the way!
Maria's family is the focus of her life and brings her the most joy and satisfaction. In the Lee house hold you will find some sort of celebration being planned or executed and if not, it's always a big party when they are all together!

Maria joined the Total Reset program in July 2016. Her primary goal was to look in the mirror and like what was looking back at her.  That meant she had some weight to lose and knew it was going to take some effort to do just that.
When asked what advice Maria would give someone who was thinking about joining the Warrior and Total Reset program she said "If someone is thinking about it, then it means that they are looking for something...to lose weight, gain a healthier lifestyle, gain strength, be more fit, etc...  Just try it.  If it's not for you, you haven't lost anything but have gained knowledge and some positive physical gains.  If this program works for you, then you have stumbled upon something that is life-changing!   Just try it!"
Picture
A Quote From A Coach:
"Maria holds herself accountable day in and day out. She comes to class to work out and push herself out of her comfort zone. She strives to be stronger and faster after having 6 kids! She's a super Mom and Grandma!!"
Since joining the program Maria has met her goal.  She has lost 60 pounds, truly likes what she sees in the mirror and knows that lady looking back at her has worked hard! One of Maria's biggest accomplishments, besides losing weight, is that she can now run. When Maria started, when her choice was to either "Run 1 lap or row 135 meters," she always rowed.  Maria was coming off a procedure to mend a torn meniscus.  Maria said "The doctor told me that to get back to a "healthy" knee, I should strengthen the muscles that support my knee and take some weight off my knee.  Well, Reset did all that for me. When I started, I couldn't run, couldn't jump rope, couldn't do a jumping jack, or a frog stretch.  Now I can do all those things and my knee doesn't hurt and is completely healed."
Another positive change since joining the program is that Maria doesn't always finish last.  At first that was hard for her, and she felt embarrassed, however in some ways, she was proud of that.  Maria always told herself that she was there for herself and she was going to do this all the way.  And she did, and still does.  Today in the Reset classes Maria may still finish last sometimes and she is completely fine with that, as long as she knows she is pushing herself.

Of all the accomplishments Maria's favorite is how much her metabolic age has improved! She started with a metabolic age of 82 at her first weigh in, and now her metabolic age is 25!
Picture
A Quote from a Coach:
"Maria is a true inspiration! She comes to every single work out focused on the task at hand, yet can brighten anyone's day with her smile and spunky personality. She continues to surprise herself at every workout by seeing how much further she can push herself. For example in the picture above Maria maxed out holding a plank for 3 minutes straight."
When asked what Maria enjoyed most about the program, she said
"I have liked the results!  If you commit to the program, it works!  And surprisingly, I truly enjoy the relationships that I have made with my fellow participants.  I was anxious about being in a group workout program.  But the support and accountability are factors that make this program successful.  I look forward to seeing familiar faces and knowing that we are sharing the same challenges and rewards."

Maria also wanted to say that "Pam and my fellow Reset friends have been so supportive and encouraging as I worked hard to achieve my fitness goals.  It has been wonderful to share my triumphs.  But truly, I know the hard part is ahead.  To maintain this lifestyle and commitment to fitness and healthy food choices is going to be difficult.  My heroes are all of those in Reset who are there regularly and working through the struggles of maintaining these lifestyle choices over YEARS! Those people are my inspiration!  I show up for class, and there they are.  Week after week.  They have lost weight, (maybe put some back on) but they are there, ready to RESET and walk that line of being healthy but enjoying food and life!  They are my inspiration as we move forward together as Tribe members!"

From all the Coaches & Staff at Pine Grove, We are so proud of the continued hard work. You are an example to many others, and we are happy to have you in the Tribe Family! If you see Maria make sure to congratulate her!

You are an inspiration to all , congratulations Maria!

Congratulations Dave Kavney!!

Picture
A Quote from a Coach:
“Dave is always smiling and brightens the room. He makes fitness a family lifestyle and every class he works hard to be a little better than the last time. Dave puts his heart into everything he does. “
Dave Kavney is a 49 year old, loving husband and father. Dave is married to Jeanie Kavney, and they have two beautiful daughters, Megan and Rachel. We are lucky enough to have the Kavney family all a part of the Warrior and Total Reset Program!

Dave and his daughter Megan joined the Total Reset and Warrior program, together in 2013.  Dave was in his mid-40’s and his initial goals were to reduce weight and improve overall health. He specifically noticed his blood pressure and cholesterol were starting to climb and he really wanted to make a change. Since joining the program Dave has lost about 25lbs, and his blood pressure and cholesterol are no longer an issue. Dave has also increased his strength and cardio endurance, and overall he feels like he is in the best physical shape of his life.
Picture
A Quote from a Coach:
“Dave is unbelievably consistent and extremely dedicated. This is one of the reasons why he has had such great results. He very rarely misses a workout. I always enjoy working out with Dave, unless there is Rowing in the workout… I can never beat him because of those long legs of his!”
When asked what advice Dave would give to someone who is thinking about joining the program he said “My advice would be not to get discouraged – I remember my low-point being the first Foundations class with the various one minute fitness measurements (it was embarrassing).  That’s when I realized what bad shape I was in.  Just stick with it and set long-term goals.”

When Dave initially joined he thought the hardest part of the program would be changing his eating habits.  But to Dave’s luck he has Jeanine who is an excellent cook, and she really made the shift to healthy eating an easy one for the Kavney family.  However the biggest challenge for Dave is just managing his calendar to ensure he can get to the program often during the week.  Since joining, Dave’s philosophy of exercise has changed. He no longer looks at exercising as a punishment (unless there are a lot of burpees). This helps him become more motivated to make room in his schedule to get to the program, because he now enjoys working out!
Picture
A Quote from a Coach:
“Dave comes to Warrior and Reset with everything he has, he always brightens everyone’s day with his contagious smile, and continuously pushes not only himself but others as well. Everyone speaks highly of not only Dave’s drive and hard work, but also his friendly personality.”
When asked what Dave enjoys most about the program he said “There are two main things that I enjoy. First the constant encouragement and attentiveness of the coaches. And second getting to know all of the participants in the Reset & Warrior classes – Jeanine & I have made some good friends here and that makes working out much more enjoyable.”

Lastly at the end of the interview Dave wanted to thank Wil, Frank and all of Pine Grove coaches & staff.  “This is a great program and it is constantly growing, evolving and getting better.”
From all the Coaches  & Staff at Pine Grove, We are so proud of the continued hard work. You are an example to many others, and we are happy to have you in the Tribe Family! If you see Dave make sure to congratulate him!

A highly valued Tribe Member,
Congratulations Dave!

Congratulations Will Reliford!

Picture
A Quote From A Coach:
“Will’s a 3H guy! Hardworking, Humble, and Handsome! Will comes to Warrior with everything he’s got, pushes for a little bit more of himself every time, and always brightens everyone’s day with his sense of humor. He’s down to earth and brings a sense of honor and humility to class that reminds us all to work hard and be thankful. Congratulations Will, on this very much deserved recognition. ”
William Reliford is a retired Army combat Veteran, where he served two tours in Afghanistan. William has a beautiful wife and 2 boys, ages 8 and 6. Will’s most important roles now are to be a well-rounded family man and a great husband and father.
Picture
A Quote From A Coach:
“Will has made outstanding progress. Just the other day he was walking up the stairs, and I didn’t even recognize him at first. He is a totally different person. Outside of Will’s physical change he is loved by his tribe mates. They all speak highly of his awesome personality and drive. ”
Will joined the Total Reset program in 2014 after searching for a CrossFit type of gym in the area and was not drawn to any of the gyms he visited.  After some encouragement from his wife, they both came to Pine Grove to learn more about Warrior and Total Reset (for his wife) and found that Pine Grove and the Warrior program were the perfect fit for Will. The facility has all of the bells and whistles Will expected out of a gym, the program was challenging and rigorous, and the staff was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable.  Needless to say, Will has been a part of Pine Grove for a few years but didn't completely commit to the process until very recently and took advantage of all the benefits of the program.
Picture
A Quote From a Coach:
“Will is such an amazing person! He is extremely dedicated and is constantly pushing himself at every work out. Seeing Will’s transformation first hand has been incredibly inspiring! It is also truly amazing to see the amount of support Will has from his Tribe family! He is an inspiration to everyone! ”
Will’s favorite part of the program is the people. “From the coaches to everyone else in warrior/reset, they're the most enjoyable part.” We can see how much that the people have impacted Will and his journey with the Warrior program. The 9:15am Warrior class has a first-hand experience of Will’s journey and wanted Will to receive the recognition he deserves!

Lastly Will wanted to add, “I'm extremely grateful to be a part of Pine Grove! I've improved both physically and mentally since last August. This experience has put a new perspective on things for me. I was a big “can't” person or “I'll never do that”. But I learned I'm the only thing between me and the thing is I deemed I couldn't do.”
From all the Coaches  & Staff at Pine Grove, We are so proud of the continued hard work. You are an example to many others, and we are happy to have you in the Tribe Family! If you see Will make sure to congratulate him!

A true inspiration and joy to others, congratulations Will!

March Tribe Member of the Month!

Congratulations Don Slade!

Picture
A Quote from a Coach:
“ Don is proof that dedication and consistency pays off!”

Don Slade is a 55 year old professional waiter. Don has worked at Daniella’s Steakhouse for serval years and really enjoys his job! Don is a single man who has five- four legged canine roommates.  All of Don’s roommate’s have been rescued and are now loved very much! If Don could have any super power it would be to possess the ability to heal. As he said “What a gift it would be to help those who are suffering, be human or animal. If you can think about it, each of our trainers here at Pine Grove have that super power; each class they give us their knowledge to heal and care for ourselves, what more could we ask for?”

Don joined the Warrior and Total Reset Program in January 2016. He was looking for a program to get him moving again, lose extra weight he had gained and to get him back in shape. Since joining the program Don has lost over 40lbs and his strength and endurance has dramatically improved.

Picture
A Quote from a Coach:
“Don is dedicated and comes to class ready to work his hardest with always a smile on his face!”

Don feels his philosophy of exercise has really changed since joining Total Reset. He now knows that exercising is a necessity – he lived without it for several years and paid the price with pain and limited mobility.

When Don was asked what he enjoyed most about the Total Reset and Warrior program he said “ The comradely of my fellow participants in the classes.  We are all on the same journey and everyone is there to support you.  I also truly enjoy each of the trainer’s different and encouraging styles – each motivate and prompt in different ways. The combination of trainers and tribe members really make you want to try your best in each class.”

Picture
A Quote from a Coach:
“Don starts and finishes class with a smile on his face. He is always positive and ready to push himself!”

Don’s advice for someone thinking about joining the program is pretty simple. He says “ If I can do this – YOU CAN TOO. The coaches at Pine Grove give you all the tools you need to succeed. I remember looking down, through those big glass windows into the workout area of the gym my first time there, thinking “Oh my – I could never do what they are doing.” Well guess what? I do now and you will too. Courage is contagious.”

At the end of the interview Don wanted to add “Until January 2016 I was overweight and under-happy. The Total Reset Program saved my life. I know that sounds trite, but I compare my life to my dad’s, who at my age I am now, was totally disabled and with only a few short years to live. That in itself was motivating enough to get moving. Finding the program has set me in the positive direction of good habits and good health. It was really a godsend.”
From all the Coaches & Staff at Pine Grove, We are so proud of the continued hard work. You are an example to many others, and we are happy to have you in the Tribe Family! If you see Don make sure to congratulate him!

A true inspiration to others, congratulations Don!

Congratulations Patty Jowett!

Picture
A Quote from a Coach:
“Patty is unstoppable, she is tenacious, joyful, determined, sweet, and a spitfire!”
Patty Jowett is a 61 year old amazing women! Patty has been a vocational rehabilitation counselor for 25 years! Which means she works with disabled adults, to help them return to work or get into work. Patty also has a very loving family, with 2 adult children and 3 grandchildren.
Patty joined the Warrior and Total Reset Program in 2012. She originally did Warrior and was very successful for 2 years! In June of 2014, Patty had a stroke that affected her right arm and had to stop the program. Because of the stroke Patty had to relearn how to do almost everything with her left arm. However, by January 2015 Patty was able to rejoined the program, and has mostly focused on Total Reset classes. Patty feels that if it wasn’t for conditioning she gained through the warrior program she would not have been able to come back from the stroke as quickly as she did. Since starting the program Patty has gotten stronger, more disciplined, and it has definitely helped her rehab from the stroke.  Awesome job Patty!!
Picture
A Quote from a coach:
“Patty is full of life is and vigor. Always smiling and saying hello in the mornings! Patty is the definition of positive!”
Picture
A Quote from a coach:
“Patty is simply a joy. Always smiling, always working, always positive.”
When asked what Patty enjoys most about the program she said “The People. Everyone is so supportive and encouraging whether that be the coaches, owners, or everyone in the gym. I love that the people in class hold you accountable. Especially the 5:30am reset class! If you miss a class, you know you will get questioned where you were the next day.”
Patty’s advice for someone thinking about joining the Total Reset and Warrior program is to be ready for a good workout! It will not be easy, but it’s worth it!
From all the Coaches & Staff at Pine Grove, We are so proud of the continued hard work. You are an example and inspiration to many others, and we are happy to have you in the Tribe Family! If you see Patty make sure to congratulate her!

Incredible Job Patty!

December 2016 Tribe Members of the Month:
Congratulations to Dan and Renee Mahle!

Picture
A Quote from a coach:
"Dan and Renee are fun-loving yet dedicated goal setters. Whether it's dressing up for a Halloween WOD, working towards a pull-up or box jump, modifying a WOD to fit in with race training, or squeeze in in a workout on the way to work, they always make their health and fitness a priority. These two are great examples for others to follow and very supportive to new members!"
Dan is 52 years old who is a Senior Vice President for Marsh Inc. Renee is 54 years old and is a very talented hairstylist. Dan and Renee have been married for 15 wonderful years and have had three amazing children. If Dan and Renee could have one superpower, they both agreed it would be Time Manipulation; their reasoning "At the end of the day, week, month, year, or your life, the only thing we truly want is more time.  It would also be very useful during those long WODs."

Dan was the first to join the Total Reset and Warrior program in November 2012. His goal was to improve nutrition, weight loss, and overall fitness. Dan's hope was that the variation of the workouts along with the coach/class atmosphere would motivate him to include weightlifting into his running routine. After joining Dan lost a total of 30lbs, lowered his cholesterol, increased his strength, agility, cardio, and continues to improve in all aspects of fitness.

After seeing how enthusiastic Dan was about the program, Renee joined the Total Reset and Warrior Program in January 2013.Renee's initial goal were simple; to lose weight, tone up and be more disciplined in her diet. Not only did Renee achieve her initial goals, she set new ones! She quickly found out that she truly enjoyed throwing weights around and became addicted to the crossfit style of training.  Renee found out from the blend of training along with expert instructions, she improved in all aspects of her fitness beyond any of the expectations she had before.
Picture
A Quote from a Coach:
"Renee and Dan understand that to be successful, you always have to pay attention to the basics. Even though they have been in the program for years, they stay focused on the little things that help them succeed. Renee and Dan also are always there with a smile on their face to cheer others
on! "
Since joining Total Reset and Warrior Program, both Dan and Renee feel that their philosophy of exercise has changed dramatically. Prior to Warrior Dan was running 3 miles a day, 5 days a week. He thought he was in shape, but he was not. Warrior changed that completely with the workouts varying so much it allowed Dan to work out his entire body in several different aspects. Dan now has a much better understanding of the impact of various exercises have on the body as well as a better understanding of nutrition. Renee now believes that fitness is much more than a goal to get into that favorite dress, but a lifestyle.

When asked what they enjoy most about the program Dan and Renee both agreed that the coaches and classmates are what they enjoy most about this program. They said in their own words that the combination of the coaches and classmates are the reason they have the constant motivation to come to class and work that much harder towards their own individual goals.
Picture
A Quote from a Coach:
"Dan and Renee are extremely loyal, compassionate, and determined people! We love having them part of the tribe family! I always enjoy coaching Dan and Renee because they always have a goal that they continually strive for. Dan and Renee are a true inspiration!"
When asked what advised they would give someone who is thinking about starting the Total Reset and Warrior program;

Dan said "JUST DO IT!   If you commit to the Nutrition and Exercise Program, for most people, you will be in the best shape of your life.  It may look intimidating but you will be supported by coaches and friendly classmates and in time, "Burpees, "The Murph", Sleds, Pull Ups, Box Jumps, Bear Crawls and Turkish Get Ups will become easier and part of your social vocabulary.  They will still suck but at least you will appear to know what you are talking about at the water cooler."
Renee Said "Don't let your age or current physical condition hold you back. We all start as beginners and know what newcomers are feeling. We crawl out of bed in pain the morning after a hard workout just like you. Keep coming and working hard and you will get results. It's that simple."

From all the Coaches & Staff at Pine Grove, We are so proud of the continued hard work. You are an example and inspiration to many others, and we are happy to have you in the Tribe Family! If you see Dan and Renee make sure to congratulate them!

Congratulations to an inspiring couple; Dan & Renee!
